Design & Technology

"Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject which encourages children to think creatively to solve problems, both as individuals and as part of a team. At Holy Trinity our aim is to provide real life contexts for learning and to design and make products that solve problems, considering their own and other’s needs.

Where possible, we link Design Technology to other curriculum areas such as maths, ICT, science and art. Our Design Technology teaching follows a design, make, evaluate cycle in which children learn to adapt their work and are encouraged to become innovators and risk takers. Making mistakes is often a big part of Design and Technology and is integral to learning, encouraging children’s resilience. We also hope that through our Design Technology curriculum, children will be inspired by engineers, designers, chefs and architects to enable them to create a range of structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food products.

Each year group takes part in at least 2 design technology projects per year which have been carefully planned to ensure clear progression of skills. Through the variety and engaging nature of our Design Technology curriculum we will help to develop the designers, engineers, and innovators of the future."
