Maths
We recognise Maths as an important part of our EYFS Framework, and an essential life skill for children. As well as developing numeracy, it also supports the development of other skills such as problem solving, understanding and using shapes and measure. In Lower Foundation children participate in regular adult-led Maths group times, in addition to being involved in Maths throughout their nursery day. In our indoor and outdoor classrooms, we have interspersed Maths opportunities throughout our provision so that children have regular opportunities to practise their skills in ‘real-life’ contexts.
In Upper Foundation children have a daily adult-led Maths group time. From September 2024 we will be using the Mastering Number scheme and also White Rose Maths for our shape, space and measures focus. Children are assessed regularly in Maths, so that we can provide additional intervention for children who have not consolidated their knowledge of a particular concept.
