Characteristics of Effective Learning
The focus of the Characteristics of Effective Learning is on how children learn rather than what they learn. We are aware that it is in their earliest years that children will form attitudes about learning that will form their future mindsets. We reflect on the different ways in which children learn to inform our planning and practice so that children receive the support and encouragement to be creative and adventurous learners throughout their lives.
Playing and Exploring — children investigate and experience things and ‘have a go’!
Active Learning — children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties and enjoy their achievements
Creating and thinking critically — children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas and develop strategies for executing the plans that they make
